A year before Wells Tavern opened in downtown Maryville, co-owner Alice Bassler walked the Let’s Be Blount hosts through the 1887 jewelry store she was turning into a Scottish pub. She talked about the steel it took to carry a rooftop bar, a menu built around fish and chips and Cullen skink, and why the concept fits a town settled by Scots.
